Katrina and the destruction of the South
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been deeply touched by what I am seeing of the destruction in the South. While I’ve never visited that part of the country, my grandmother and greatgrandmother were from New Orleans and my son’s fathers family are in Mississippi.
New Orleans was on my places to visit this winter (thanks to freq flyer miles!)…as I’ve always wanted to go there.
Are any of you in the south (and still amazingly online)? Do you have family in the area? Business partners? Other connections? How are you doing? What are you doing?
I want to caution you regarding donations. There are new scams being set up every minute. Stick with those we can trust such as:
- Mercy Corps http://www.mercycorps.org
- The Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/
- The Salvation Army www.redshield.org/crisis
If you want to know if a charity is legit, you can check Charity Navigator.

Can Writing Heal You?
ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners | Editorial
Writing Your Wrongs
By Jill Glomstad
Many people keep diaries at some point in their lives. For some, it’s a way to monitor change and progress as they grow; for others, it serves to chronicle their stories for posterity.
Writing about one’s own life can serve as more than a record. Researchers have shown that journaling can be an effective tool to mitigate stress and actually improve physical function. When people write to explore their feelings, journaling is necessarily accompanied by vulnerability and, gradually, self-realization.

The Power of Positive Thinking
This morning I woke thinking about how things in my life are going. And I noticed very clearly that overall, what I believe will happen, happens. Not always on my time frame, but it does occur.
There was a time in my life when my thoughts were not very positive. And you know what…I was always right! If I believed I would not get something, I didn’t. If I knew xyz would not work, it didn’t. I was 100% correct.
Somewhere along the line though, I started changing my mind and tried to look at the positive aspects of life. It did not happen when everyone around me was trying to make it happen…it happened when I finally “got itâ€. I found that I was right again…and this time joyously right! My life has been on an upward spiral since. Some may not think so (ie, I left my job), but what they don’t realize…it’s what I wanted!
Do you get a daily dose of wisdom from the Universe? If you don’t, please do sign up (they are free and right on). Between this and my Power Thought cards, I’m usually set to start the day.
Change your thoughts…you will still be correct, only this time you will be happier.
